FINALLY.. ANOTHER ONE

33RD VISITOR INDUSTRY CHARITY WALK

For over 3 decades, the Hawaii Visitor Industry Charity Walk has benefited many non profit organizations. In its 33^rd year, this is considered to be the biggest single day money raiser in the state. Since it’s beginning in 1978, the charity walk has raised over $22 million. It’s the 4^th time I’ve had the opportunity to do it and the second time that Anabelle and I have done it together. There were about 1.000 walkers or so representing different hotels from different parts of the island.

The charity walk is 3 miles long that takes you from War Memorial Gym in Wailuku. It then weaves through Kahului before ending up back at the gym. There were about 10 water stations that handed out everything from water and oranges to key chains and visors. I skipped almost everything besides the water as Anabelle capitalized on getting as much of everything and lugging everything back, in her free recyclable bag.  LOL. The weather wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be but I’m sure the free visors we got had a bit to do with it. At the end of the walk, we were treated to a great breakfast spread prepared by some of the best restaurants from different hotels. We had macaroni and cheese with Portuguese sausage, waffles, and breakfast burritos. They also served waters, sodas, and cappuccino smoothies. There was cotton candy for the kids which was right across the keiki (child) tent where there was a balloon animal making class and a face painting area. We were given a free show by local comedian Frank Delima who had us in stitches.

At the end of the day, the island of Maui raised $475,101. It was a great day. We the employees, our families, our friends, and our supporters were able to become one. Knowing we were able to help other non profit organizations and their ventures gives us great reason to want to do this again. Until next year. FIREWORKS

There are few things that captivate people like the showing of a good fireworks spectacle. That’s exactly what I the guests and residences of the Kihei/Wailea area were treated to tonight. Guests of ours, from around the world sat atop their balconies, sipped their champagnes and wines, jumped out of the pool and hopped on the wall, pulled out their cameras and oohed and aahed over the Hawaii Explosive and Pyrotechnics Inc. firework show. It was a good treat for those who are from places that don’t allow fireworks back home.

My husband and I stayed at Maui XXXX from September 11-September 16, 2005. We really enjoyed ourselves. We had an Ocenaview Condo, which was really nice. We stayed in Unit #84. From the time we arrived we were welcomed by Brandon(guy at front desk). He gave us some great information about the area....what do to, eat, etc. He was very helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Outside of that, things were great! This Condo was also close to the shopping, eating district.

I found this while on TRIPADVISOR.COM and thought this was pretty dope. Honestly I hate hotel review sites because of what people whine about, but I'll play hypocrite and post this. 

HERE YOU GO:

Every year, my wife and our friends plan a group trip. This year was Maui and I can say that this was the best time I've ever had. The Aston XXXX was our choice of accomodations. We had family who owned time shares but we chose to do it ourselves. The Aston XXXX was located close to everywhere you'd like to go when you're in maui. Very close to the beach, the shops, the mountains, the docks, the airport etc. We stayed in a condo with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a huge living room with a balcony overlooking well maintained property. All the appliances were in excellent working order. The cleaning people were very thorough and neat. The pool and tennis courts were kept very clean.

The memorable part of my trip was our front desk person. He was very friendly and helpful. If you wanted to know anything about Maui just ask BRANDON. He know where the best eating, shopping, luau etc. spots were.
I am planning another trip to maui and I will surely stay at the Aston XXXX again. Mahalo!

The cool thing about working at a hotel is that you never know who’ll walk in. For those that aren’t familiar with the history of the UFC, this is Hawaii boy, Cabbage Correira. You have to love it.
