FLUFFY ROUND II

I had a chance to see him perform last year. When I finally confirmed the news that he was coming back for a 2010 performance, I knew I had to jump on it. I showed up to the box office 2 weeks before the date to pick up tickets and found that for the second year in a row, “Fluffy” himself, Gabriel Iglesias sold out the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.

From start to finish the show was electric. You could feel the excitement in the air once you got into the venue. There were more comics this time than last year which was good. It gave us a chance to warm up our vocal chords before Fluffy came out. When he finally did, the island audience showed him mad love, as he showed us the same amount. He had the audience in his grasp from the moment he said, “Aloha”. We were all impressed as he tried to talk to us in the locally trademarked accent, “pidgin” English. He actually did a damn good job too. He not only knew the right words but more importantly, he knew when to use the words, and that is what kept us bouncing up and down on our chairs.

After the show, Fluffy and the gang always take the time to take a picture with anyone who’s willing to stand in line. Of course we had to. It was a sheer pleasure to be in the presence of Gabriel Iglesias. To capture a photo was icing on our hysterical cake. When it was finally our turn to take our picture, we were both greeted by one of the most genuine people walking god’s green earth. Gabriel Iglesias was seemed like he paid attention to us and only us. Even when the photographer took our picture, he asked us if it was to our liking or if we wanted to take another one. After giving me the pound he gave Anabelle one of the biggest hugs she’s ever received; and she melted in his arms; and I loved it. A double the size of Fluffy shout out to Gabriel Iglesias and his crew for another spectacular night.
