When I woke up this morning, I turned on SportsCenter and see that it’s the 6 year anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s 81 point onslaught against the Toronto Raptors. Jalen Rose, who’s now an ESPN NBA analyst, was a member of the Raptors and guarded Kobe for 15 of his 81 points that evening. When asked about how he felt being burnt by Kobe, Jalen Rose eloquently said it was more of an honor playing that night and witnessing greatness. He also mentioned that “As bad as it was, it’s not like it was some no named scrub that lit us up, it was one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, Kobe Bryant”. I was really surprised to see how much of a class act Jalen Rose was when it came to speaking of that game. Never once did he get defensive, he never faltered. He, in my mind, was a true class act.
I thought about what he said for part of the day. I just thought that was such a gracious gesture on his part that I wanted to share my thoughts. How? What better way to do it than with Twitter. So I jumped on, without looking to see what Jalen Rose’ twitter username was I shared:
Later in the day, I jumped on my phone and seen that I had a Twitter update. This is what I ended up getting:
This may not be a big deal to many but for me; I’m an avid basketball fan; always was and always will be. I’ve followed Jalen Rose from when he was with the Fab 5 back in Michigan. I wasn’t a big fan of him but I had nothing against him, I just simply liked him. So for this to happen was a nice retreat from fishing for retweets and replies like some people do. I’d like to send a big shout out to @JalenRose for being such a class act. #weshouldalllearnfromhim
